Waypoint’s client is seeking an Senior ISSE to join their growing team. This position is a senior-level role conducting information systems security engineering activities throughout the lifecycle of projects. ISSEs are entrusted with capturing and refining information protection requirements and ensuring their seamless integration into information systems acquisitions and development through purposeful security design or configuration. They utilize systems engineering principles and methodologies to integrate security functional requirements into existing acquisition lifecycle phases, milestones, and documents. The ISSE collaborates closely with assessment and authorization stakeholders to ensure compliance with best practices in security control implementation.


Responsibilities:
  • Conduct information systems security engineering activities throughout the lifecycle, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Capture and refine information protection requirements and integrate them into information systems acquisitions and development projects.
  • Integrate security functional requirements into existing acquisition lifecycle phases, milestones, and documents using systems engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Implement security controls following best practices, including software engineering methodologies, security engineering principles, and secure coding techniques.
  • Coordinate activities with assessment and authorization stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Configure and support various operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac OS) and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Xen, Hyper V).
  • Engage in software integration of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) products.
  • Participate in technical project management activities and provide technical expertise in areas such as program design and implementation, configuration management, system maintenance, and integration testing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience OR High School GED and 10 years of relevant experience OR Associate's Degree and 8 years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree or higher and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Desired Education: Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Experience in information technology security, information systems security, information assurance engineering, and performing certification and accreditation testing.
  • Knowledge of and experience with ICD 503 and the Government’s certification and accreditation process.
  • Familiarity with networks, computer components, system protocols, and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technology.
  • Understanding of system methodologies including client/server architecture, web hosting, firewalls, WAN, MAN, LAN, switches, and routers.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Xen, Hyper V, and cloud technologies.
  • Relevant education in computer engineering, information security, information management, or computer science.
  • Experience in technical project management is desirable.
  • Technical expertise in configuring and supporting operating systems, virtualization platforms, software engineering, program design, implementation, configuration management, system maintenance, and integration testing.
