Waypoint’s client is a leading organization in the technology sector, dedicated to innovation and excellence in their field. Seeking a highly skilled Cloud System Administrator to support cloud-based repositories in an operational environment.


Responsibilities:
  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot system problems, including hardware, software, and network-related issues, with a focus on maintaining uptime and reliability.
  • Maintain storage systems, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Interface with external teams for hardware, network, and infrastructure support, fostering collaboration and timely resolution of issues.
  • Provide after-hours on-call/call-in support as needed to address critical system issues and emergencies.
  • Ensure system security requirements are satisfied, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data and infrastructure.
  • Participate in engineering discussions to contribute insights and recommendations for system enhancements and optimizations.
  • Create and maintain system scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline system administration processes.
  • Patch and upgrade system software regularly to address security vulnerabilities and improve functionality.
  • Administer user accounts, manage access permissions and ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Maintain hardware inventory, tracking assets and coordinating procurement as needed.
Requirements:
  • ​Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Alternatively, five (5) years of additional Systems Administrator experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Extensive experience working with large Hadoop and Accumulo based clusters.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with hardware, software, security, and network teams.
Desired:
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and task management.
  • Strong command of Python programming language for system administration tasks and automation.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet for maintaining system consistency and scalability.
