Waypoint’s client is seeking a Systems Administrator to join their team. Supporting the Red, Hunt, and Blue teams in national Cybersecurity Defensive Operations, your main objective is to provide comprehensive systems administration support. You will collaborate closely with a team of professional systems administrators, developers, and mission operators, contributing to the effective functioning of critical cybersecurity infrastructure. Responsibilities:
  • Apply IAVAs (Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts) and other updates to ensure system security and compliance.
  • Support the build and maintenance of laptops for mission operations.
  • Provide administrative support for the Splunk Cluster, ensuring its smooth operation and optimization.
  • Build and support virtual machines (VMs) to meet operational requirements.
  • Administer CentOS systems, maintaining their stability and functionality.
  • Provide occasional Windows administration support as needed.
  • Collaborate with developers and operators to define requirements and design solutions for system enhancements.
  • Possess knowledge of network engineering principles to support system operations, although networking engineering support requirements are limited in scope.
Requirements:
  • ​Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 9 years of relevant experience may be considered for individuals with significant related experience.
  • Degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Desired:
  • Familiarity with Nutanix for virtualization.
  • Knowledge of Splunk, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, Airflow, GitLab, and Jira for system administration and automation.
  • Experience supporting hardware installation and maintaining servers, desktops, and network infrastructure.
  • Experience setting up storage solutions such as network-attached storage (NAS) or remote storage.
  • Familiarity with implementing security best practices to enhance system security.
  • Experience maintaining an inventory of infrastructure hardware.
