Waypoint’s client is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join their Operations Team, specializing in working with a massively parallel enterprise platform. This platform is built using Java on Free and Open-Source Software products, including Kubernetes, Hadoop, and Accumulo, to facilitate the execution of data-intensive analytics on a managed infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated Java developer with a strong attention to detail, capable of proactively completing tasks both independently and as part of a team. This role offers exposure to a diverse range of technologies, depending on customer requirements, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to expand their skill set.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance the massively parallel enterprise platform.
  • Utilize Java programming skills to design and implement solutions for data-intensive analytics.
  • Work with Free and Open-Source Software products, including Kubernetes, Hadoop, and Accumulo, to enable the execution of complex data processing tasks.
  • Independently and proactively complete tasks with a strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Adapt to changing customer requirements and technology landscapes, remaining flexible and open to learning new technologies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.
  • Provide support and assistance to team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Requirements:
  • ​Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in Java programming and database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Postgres).
  • Experience with the MapReduce programming model and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Linux OS development, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and Ansible.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Desired:
  • Previous experience working with massively parallel enterprise platforms or distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing principles and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices.
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools.
