Junior Systems Engineer

Description:

Waypoint’s client is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer 0 to join their team. The successful candidate will analyze user requirements, develop system specifications, lead design and development activities, and ensure the technical integrity of all work performed. This role involves significant interaction with the Government regarding technical considerations and provides an opportunity to assume responsibility for the integration of requirements, design, and technology into ongoing operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirement specifications.
  • Lead design and development activities, ensuring system requirements are met.
  • Assist users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
  • Integrate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations and develop related technical documentation.
  • Develop system architecture and design documentation.
  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
  • Interact with the Government regarding technical considerations, addressing associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
  • Assume ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
  • Communicate effectively with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
Requirements:
  • Active TS/SCI with full scope polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
    • Five (5) years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • IAT Level 1 8570 Compliant Certification is required.
  • Ability to manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems compatible with defined system architectures such as Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Service-oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Experience in contributing to the development of systems engineering documentation including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Assist with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
  • Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead design and development activities.
  • Effective communicator with experience interacting with government personnel and senior executives.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with a commitment to technical excellence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
