Position Title:Senior Network Systems Administrator Position Type: On-Site Position Location: Huntsville, AL Clearance Required: Secret (or ability to obtain)
Waypoint’s client is seeking aSr. Network Systems Administrator to support a space program in Huntsville, Alabama. This role is integral to the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of site or enterprise infrastructure including server, storage, database, network, client, and communication systems. Working under general direction, this position contributes to shaping long-term objectives and organizational goals and is critical to ensuring secure, optimized network systems.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure including server, storage, network, and communication systems to support enterprise needs.
Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to operating systems and network devices, utilizing Cisco IOS for secure configurations.
Manage and configure Cisco switches, routers, and related copper/fiber-optic cabling, adhering to cabling standards.
Use network administration tools, techniques, and best practices to support secure and efficient infrastructure.
Maintain Active Directory Domain Administrator responsibilities, managing Sites and Services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, LDAP, authentication protocols, and AD Permission delegation.
Oversee regular OS patches and upgrades for Windows Servers (e.g., Server 2019, 2022) and Windows 10 Enterprise.
Support Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) implementation and maintain server architecture standards.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration documentation to support continuity and knowledge sharing.
Manage Palo Alto firewalls and Microsoft Server products to ensure network security and stability.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to other Systems Administrators, offering mentorship and training.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in STEM field or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a relevant role.
Proven experience applying DISA STIGs to operating systems and network devices.
Proficient in Cisco IOS command line for STIG implementation.
Experience with Cisco switches, routers, copper/fiber-optic cabling, and network standards.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP.
Advanced understanding of Active Directory administration, including Sites and Services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and LDAP.
Experience with PKI infrastructure.
Skilled in Windows domain architecture and version management (e.g., Server 2019, Server 2022, Windows 10).
Proficient with Microsoft Server products, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco network devices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Desired:
Cisco CCENT, CCNA, or higher certification.
CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification.
Knowledge of server backup strategies and network management systems.
Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols and application protocols.
Experience in network security methodologies and solutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but requires providing technical leadership to other Systems Administrators. This includes training, planning, assigning tasks, and solving technical challenges while coordinating with other technical teams and managing vendor relationships.
