Waypoint’s client is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support their space program in Omaha, Nebraska. This role is integral to the operational planning and analysis activities centered on Extended Air Defense Simulation (EADSIM), which enables comprehensive evaluations of battlefield technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in modeling, coding, and troubleshooting within simulation environments, allowing for tailored solutions and accurate analysis in a mission-critical setting.
Responsibilities:
Develop, run, and analyze EADSIM scenarios to meet user requirements and support operational studies.
Generate detailed EADSIM reports and investigate model behaviors, using debugging tools to identify root causes and ensure simulation accuracy.
Implement code adjustments and extend the model with new features to meet evolving needs.
Compile baseline code from the Huntsville repository, merge it with local changes, and resolve any resulting issues.
Address and correct anomalies and coding requests specific to local operations, ensuring alignment with simulation requirements.
Troubleshoot issues with libraries, operating systems, and interactions between EADSIM and other programs.
Maintain and update local programs that provide pre- and post-processing support for EADSIM.
Provide computer science support as necessary, ensuring simulation tools operate seamlessly within the customer's environment.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with experience in complex simulations and modeling environments.
Proficiency in compiling and merging baseline code and managing code variations for local needs.
Experience troubleshooting libraries, operating systems, and program interactions in simulation contexts.
Advanced knowledge of C/C++ programming languages.
Strong debugging skills to investigate model behaviors and make targeted corrections.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
Desired:
Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Direct experience with simulation development and usage, with EADSIM experience highly preferred.
10+ years of relevant engineering or software experience is advantageous but not required.
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance is strongly preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not involve direct supervisory duties but requires technical expertise and leadership within simulation projects, ensuring quality deliverables and providing guidance to less experienced engineers as needed.
