Waypoint’s client is seeking a Model-based Systems Engineer to support the IFMC AMD Mission Command Product Office, a government program office focused on Army Air and Missile Defense systems, with an emphasis on Mission Command systems. In this role, you will collaborate with contractors, government civilians, and system operators to develop system-level concepts that address complex problems involving multiple systems across product offices. These concepts will define external interfaces, system behavior, performance criteria, and acceptance standards necessary to support hardware and software engineering teams. Tasks may also involve leading reviews and adjudicating comments on these concepts. Concept development will follow a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach within an Agile workflow.
Responsibilities:
Develop system-level concepts addressing complex, multi-system problems across different product offices
Define external interfaces and outline system behavior, performance, and acceptance criteria for hardware and software teams
Lead reviews and adjudicate comments made against system concepts
Utilize a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach in an Agile environment for concept development
Work closely with government and contractor teams to ensure solutions meet user needs
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and a resident of the Huntsville, AL area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related field is required
7 or more years of system engineering experience
Experience in tactical command and control systems, tactical weapons systems, tactical sensor systems, software, hardware, requirement decomposition, or MBSE tools and languages
Ability to take initiative and be a team player in a small team environment
Comfortable working in an Agile team setting and engaging with stakeholders
Highly organized with a strong technical background in system engineering principles
Desired:
System engineering experience supporting DoD programs, particularly in Army Air and Missile Defense, is highly desired
Hands-on experience creating models in Cameo or MagicDraw using SysML and UAF is preferred
Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence and SAFe Agile experience are a plus
