Waypoint’s client is seeking an Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Modeling, Simulation, and Training (MST) Product Owner (PO) to join the Army Program Executive Office Missiles and Space (PEO MS) Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office. In this role, the MST PO will be responsible for reviewing and understanding systems engineering concepts, designs, and algorithms, and for working with Program Management to prioritize new capabilities and defects. The PO will provide guidance to the MST team throughout each Program Increment (PI) and Sprint, ensuring tasks and stories meet acceptance criteria. Additionally, the PO will verify the work performed by the MST team and provide technical briefings, demonstrations, and advisement to leadership on status, recommended actions, risks, performance, and impacts to the IFMC mission.
Responsibilities:
Review and understand systems engineering concepts, designs, and algorithms related to modeling, simulation, and training
Collaborate with Program Management to prioritize capabilities and defects for MST capabilities
Provide guidance to the MST team during Program Increments (PI) and Sprints
Develop and maintain a prioritized product backlog of user stories and tasks for modeling, simulation, and training
Support the development of acceptance criteria for MST tasks and stories
Verify the work performed by the MST team and ensure it aligns with defined criteria
Conduct technical briefings and provide advisement to leadership
Report on project status, competing capabilities, risks, and impacts to the IFMC mission
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering, science, or mathematics from an accredited institution (ABET preferred)
Minimum of 7 years of combined Government/DoD experience in modeling, simulation, and training related to defense systems
Strong understanding of modeling and simulation for sensors and weapon systems, including the ability to test new command and control capabilities
Ability to create and maintain a prioritized product backlog of user stories and tasks
Experience working directly with Agile software developers to meet deadlines and program objectives
Fluent in the Microsoft Office toolset
Knowledge or experience with IBCS, PATRIOT, MEADS, THAAD, C2BMC, or AEGIS systems
Familiarity with JIRA/Confluence tools
Agilist Certification is a plus
Ability to independently think critically, champion ideas, and work effectively within a team environment
Must be able to maintain a Secret security clearance or higher
