Waypoint’s client is seeking a Senior Missile Defense System (MDS) Analyst to join the Architecture Design Team, where you will play a key role in shaping the future of the Nation’s missile defense enterprise. This role requires deep technical knowledge of the MDS and the ability to conduct trade studies, analyze architectures, and provide actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders across the DoD, Joint Staff, Services, and international partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Scope, execute, and document MDS architecture trade studies as part of the Architecture Design Team.
  • Support the development of Initial Requirements Documents, Architecture Requirements Packages, and other systems engineering artifacts.
  • Develop alternative architecture concepts to address projected capability gaps, real-world threats, and intelligence estimates.
  • Lead and coordinate architecture requirements and analysis efforts in support of Service and Combatant Command (CCMD) needs.
  • Shape MDA vision and strategies to support the Warfighter, collaborating with the DoD, Joint Staff, Services, CCMDs, Intel Community (IC), OGAs, national labs, industry, and international partners.
  • Support trade study methodologies, define measures, and deliver technical recommendations.
  • Develop and present technical briefings to senior leadership, providing clear, actionable analysis.
  • Review, comment, and contribute to working group products across the Architecture Design Team.
  • Coordinate future technology requirements across MDA, DoD, and IC stakeholders.
  • Provide regular input on task status, risks, and deliverables to government leadership.
Required:
  • Master’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience, OR Bachelor’s degree and 20+ years of experience.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with DoD and MDA processes and procedures.
  • Detailed knowledge of the MDS, including Command and Control networks.
  • Ability to work independently and accomplish complex tasks with minimal guidance.
Desired:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Military background preferred:
    • Navy: Aegis Weapon System EDO or Joint Interface Control Officer.
    • Army/Air Force: Familiarity with MDS elements such as THAAD, LTAMDS, Sentinel, PATRIOT, or GMD.
  • Advanced technical understanding of MDS beyond traditional systems engineering “architect” roles.
