Waypoint’s customer is seeking a Master Scheduler to support a high-visibility, mission-critical program under contract. This role requires a strong mastery of scheduling best practices, program-level planning, and contract deliverable management. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) aligned with the contractor’s Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS) and leading cross-functional teams to manage schedule, risk, and performance metrics.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain a program-level Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), comprised of multiple sub-projects, with major milestones, deliverables, projected start dates, due dates, schedule status, assigned resources, priorities of work, and alignment to the contractor’s Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS).
Coordinate and maintain the integrated project schedule to align with Agile Release Train (ART) stories and milestones.
Develop the Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
Coordinate the IMS with the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Lead cross-functional team members in defining project tasks, establishing task durations, defining relationships, imposing constraints, and collecting weekly status.
Propose scheduling processes and improvements that help with Integrated Scheduling and understand the impacts of any changes on program delivery.
Track the critical path of program activities, associated risks, and recommended mitigations in schedule and risk reviews.
Use industry tools (e.g., Microsoft Project) to develop high-level schedules and graphs, and use Excel or Power BI to deliver dashboards to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Facilitate client-facing meetings to review the IMS and discuss schedule slips, mitigation plans, resource reallocations, and potential impacts.
Communicate clearly across program teams, leadership, and stakeholders to present schedule status, risks, analyses, and recommendations.
Identify, track, and integrate program risks into the IMS and associated planning artifacts.
Leverage comprehensive metrics, customer and stakeholder feedback to assess program performance and risk; recommend resources and actions to ensure mission success.
Conduct after-action reviews, use benchmarking and root cause analyses, develop corrective and preventive actions for recurring schedule discrepancies, and drive continuous improvement in scheduling practices.
Qualifications
Proven experience with risk management and schedule development in large, complex programs.
Working knowledge of industry standards for scheduling, program controls, Earned Value concepts, and best practices for integrated scheduling.
Excellent communication and written skills, including the ability to brief senior Government PMO leadership and Program Sponsor.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Must possess a current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
Desired
Experience leading Gate Reviews, conducting risk-based process evaluations, and working in DoD/contractor environments or large government programs.
Certification in ITIL (v4 Foundation) or equivalent.
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent scheduling/control certification.
