Waypoint’s customer is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive the expansion of its drone motor and propulsion business within both commercial and defense sectors. The ideal candidate combines strong technical fluency with sales acumen and thrives in fast-paced, high-growth markets. As the Business Development Manager – Drone Motors, you will identify and capture new opportunities, strengthen strategic relationships, and position the customer’s propulsion systems as the first choice for engineering-driven buyers worldwide.
Responsibilities:
New Business Development & Sales Execution
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with drone OEMs, system integrators, and industrial clients
• Create and execute account plans aligned with revenue and growth targets
• Develop sales forecasts and manage pipeline activities in CRM systems
• Lead all phases of the sales cycle—from initial outreach through contract close
Customer Engagement & Technical Support
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with technical and purchasing decision-makers
• Act as a technical translator, aligning motor specifications with customer requirements
• Partner with engineering teams to customize solutions and resolve integration challenges
• Prepare and deliver persuasive proposals, presentations, and responses to RFPs/RFQs
Market Strategy & Industry Presence
• Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform sales and product strategies
• Represent Hoverfly at trade shows, demos, and industry events to generate leads
• Provide actionable customer feedback to influence product development and go-to-market initiatives
Qualifications:
• 3–7 years of B2B business development, technical sales, or account management experience
• Proven success selling engineering-based products or systems to technical buyers
• Background in drones, aerospace, robotics, or advanced manufacturing industries
• Strong understanding of electric motors, propulsion systems, or UAV technology
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• CRM proficiency (Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent) and strong organizational discipline
Education & Additional Details:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field (MBA a plus)
• Experience selling UAV propulsion systems or related aerospace components preferred
• Established network within the commercial or defense drone market
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Hybrid or remote work flexibility based in Sanford, FL
