Position: Airborne & Space ISR Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Waypoint’s client is seeking an experienced Airborne and Space ISR Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Department of War Office of the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security (OUSW I&S). This role provides senior-level technical and strategic advisory support to government leadership, with a focus on airborne and space-based Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, requirements, and resourcing across the Department of War and Intelligence Community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide senior-level airborne and/or space ISR expertise and direct counsel to executive leadership on platform capabilities, sensor integration, and multi-intelligence solutions.
- Advise on ISR platform capabilities including SAR/GMTI radar, SIGINT/ELINT suites, and other advanced sensor technologies.
- Develop and present national security recommendations supporting government direction, acquisition oversight, and programmatic decision-making for airborne and space ISR programs.
- Represent Office of the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security equities in ISR requirements development, programming efforts, and capability-based assessments.
- Support Department of War and Intelligence Community studies, analyses, and ISR-related initiatives as required.
- Perform technical reviews, research, and analytical assessments of ISR-related programs, capabilities, and documentation.
- Draft and review formal position papers, briefs, talking points, memoranda, correspondence, and OSW staff packages for senior leadership.
- Support the Airborne and Space ISR team throughout the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process.
- Participate in OUSW(I&S) focus teams, develop issue papers, and contribute to PPBE-related activities and decision support efforts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- 10+ years of experience supporting Department of War airborne ISR platforms (manned and/or unmanned).
- 5+ years of experience with the Department of War PPBE process, program oversight, capability development, or resourcing on a military or interagency staff.
- Demonstrated experience providing senior-level advisory support on ISR capabilities, requirements, and operational employment.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior leaders.

- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Prior experience supporting the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security (OUSW I&S).
- Experience working across Department of War and Intelligence Community organizations.
- Ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, senior-leader environment.
